The 1957 Club is a nonprofit that uses Name, Image and Likeness of Stony Brook University student-athletes to help promote charitable organizations located within our community.

By engaging in philanthropic endeavors across various community facets, they amplify the impact of nonprofits’ charitable pursuits. Through active participation in a multitude of roles and projects, our athletes serve as champions of positive change. Their diverse contributions encompass volunteering, fundraising, mentorship, and community events.

Is The 1957 Club affiliated with Stony Brook University?

No, The 1957 Club is not affiliated with the university in any way. It is a third party created to work with Stony Brook University student-athletes. The university is prohibited by state law from arranging third-party compensation for student-athletes as it relates to NIL contracts.
Can my donations to The 1957 Club be used as a tax write off?

The 1957 Club supports student-athletes in all varsity sports at Stony Brook University.
What are student-athletes doing in the community?

Once a student-athlete is selected and approved by The 1957 Club, they will choose a charity to support. Student-athletes are provided various opportunities to make a difference such as attending fundraising events, social media campaigns, volunteering at charity sites, and more.
What charities does The 1957 Club work with?

The 1957 Club has already struck partnerships with several local nonprofits such as The Stony Brook University Children’s Hospital. The 1957 Club will continue to research and approve additional 501c3 nonprofit organizations on a rolling basis.

Yes, anyone donating to The 1957 Club can denote what sport and their respective student-athletes contributions will be earmarked for. Supporters can also contact us directly to set up activations with their favorite student-athlete(s).
Are all student-athlete opportunities the same?

No, contracts vary based on the specific athlete and the requirements of the contributor and/or activation. Each deal is individually negotiated and agreed upon by the student-athletes. That being said, The 1957 Club seeks to provide equal opportunities for both male and female student-athletes.
Are contracts with student-athletes exclusive?

No, contracts are not exclusive. We want all Stony Brook University student-athletes to thrive under NIL and take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way.
What happens if an athlete transfers or leaves Stony Brook University?
